SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY AT SHREVEPORT LOUISIANA (SUSLA) AVAILABLE PROGRAMS Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) offers two fully online programs: Associate of Science in Business Management Changes in the economy and the aging labor force impact local, national, and global organizations; the impetus is on internal advancement to capitalize on employees' existing skills and knowledge.
The Business Management program, offered online at Southern University at Shreveport, will prepare individuals to apply critical analysis in decision-making affecting the fiscal and economic value of an organization, innovate and integrate appropriate technology, and become leaders at every level of the organization. Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology The health care industry depends on electronic information systems. As health data becomes more digitized, opportunities are created for individuals with skills and knowledge to collect, analyze, monitor, maintain and report health data in accordance with established data quality principles, legal and information security standards and professional best-practice guidelines. The Associate Degree Program in Health Information Technology offered online, through the Allied Health Division of Southern University at Shreveport, teaches how to use technology to collect, analyze, monitor, maintain and report health data. These functions include, among other duties, processing requests for the release of personal health information, the coding of clinical information, and processing and using health data for clinical quality management, billing and reimbursement and compliance while protecting patient privacy. Graduates of this program may pursue entry-level positions involving health information technology in a variety of health care settings.
Southern University at Shreveport Louisiana (SUSLA) was established in 1967 as a unit of the Southern University System. SUSLA is a two-year, comprehensive, open enrollment, public university designed to prepare students for careers in technical and occupational fields; award certificates, diplomas and associate degrees; and offer courses and programs that are transferable to other colleges and universities. The University was voted the 3rd best two-year university in a Washington Monthly Magazine; recognized as the 6th fastest growing two-year institution in the country; and ranked 44th among two-year institutions graduating African American students. Southern University at Shreveport has 6 Associate of Applied Science, 1 Associate of Arts, 12 Associate of Science, 13 Certificate of Technical Studies, 1 technical Diploma, an Associate of General Studies degree, and certificate programs. Additionally, there are 3 academic centers and several satellite classrooms conveniently located throughout the community to meet the needs of our students. SUSLA fosters the pedagogic integration of technology into the design of teaching and learning processes and ensures unification and standardization through collaborative efforts with faculty and other instructional personnel. The campus community provides a comprehensive approach to integrating innovations in teaching and learning that positions the University to identify and increase student success, improve student learning outcomes and expand access to education irrespective to students' location.
