University of Louisiana at LafayetteFounded in 1898, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is a comprehensive university with a mission to educate undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of arts, sciences and professional programs and to conduct research in these fields. As the second largest public university in Louisiana, the University offers more than 120 undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees as well as a number of graduate certificates. Within the Carnegie classification, UL Lafayette is designated as a Research University with High Research Activity. UL Lafayette has been recognized as one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduate education according to the 2014 edition of "The Best 378 Colleges" published by The Princeton Review and is the most affordable university in Louisiana according to the U.S. Department of Education's College Affordability and Transparency List. The Office of Distance Learning, which facilitates the delivery of undergraduate and graduate online degree programs and courses, received the 2013 Sloan-Consortium (Sloan-C) Award for Excellence in Faculty Development for Online Teaching. All of our online and hybrid courses are developed in accordance with national design standards of quality and are taught by certified online instructors. More than 175 UL Lafayette faculty members hold at least one online teaching certification, and the University currently offers more than 60 certified online and hybrid courses in more than 240 sections.
